Why 2029?

IAC 2029 will take place at a truly historic moment for space exploration.

The Congress will coincide with the 80th anniversary of IAC and the 60th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. It will occur during a pivotal era as NASA advances the Artemis program and prepares to return astronauts to the lunar surface for the first time since the Apollo program.

At the same time, the planned retirement of the International Space Station will mark the transition toward a new generation of commercial space stations and expanded public-private collaboration in low-Earth orbit.

Why Houston?

Houston is globally recognized as “Space City” and remains the historic and operational heart of American human spaceflight.

Home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center and Mission Control, as well as Space Center Houston, the city has played a central role in every era of human space exploration.

Texas is also rapidly emerging as a major center for commercial space activity, with companies including SpaceX, Blue Origin, Axiom Space, and Firefly Aerospace operating across the state, alongside leading research institutions and innovation hubs.

Together, Houston’s heritage and future make it the ideal location to convene the global space community.
